Every winter, when the sun-warmed beaches of their beloved Florida hometown become inundated with tourists, Pepe and Rory, Muscovy Ducks and avid travelers, turn tail and excitedly head off to cooler climes on some infinitely planned great escape. This year’s grand journey has the pair meandering north up the coastline. It’ll be a more leisurely flight than those of their younger years, with plenty of stops to visit friends and explore local culture - while still keeping on a timeline to have them landing in DC for Spring. They have been eager to delve into the history the capital holds and, especially, to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
Heading into their retirement years, the mellow pace is appreciated physically but, also, for offering a richer migration. Soon enough, they think they might just spend their saved pennies on an Airstream Classic and switch to old school road trips. It’ll be replete with a storehouse of canned victuals warming under the hood for lunch (served with a half-can of crisp, hoppy ale); plenty of totally ignored maps and itineraries spread all over the flip-up kitchenette table; and an obligatory soundtrack - on cassette, no less - marking the time spent. Their travels will surely continue to be indelible.

On the reverse of each card is a whimsical tale of the animal featured. Entirely collectible, the stories intertwine, creating a much-loved community of characters.
We print on a luxurious 318 gsm, 100% cotton paper. Soft and durable, this paper showcases crisp detail and vibrant colour. We fell in love with our beautiful goldenrod shade, 90# envelope. According to the ‘World’s Favourite Colour’ study, people associate the feeling of joy with this colour. Also, this is the very shade that enrobes our trusty #2. As all of our images are hand drawn in pencil, we thought it appropriate to give a nod of appreciation.

We spent a long time on this. Every Central & Gus illustration is hand-drawn in pencil — and so we are eternally inspired by the classic #2, enrobed in that particular shade of yellow. For that, we call it Ticonderoga Harvest. Studies on colour and emotion find that people associate this shade with joy — which felt exactly right. It also nods, quietly, to our farm roots, everything that grows out of the land, and also to a less tangible but just as important creative harvest. The envelope is not an afterthought. It is part of the story.
