So she held her gift close and waited to discover her actual life's work. And she did wait a good long while before she understood the truth so often missed: our work is not hidden apart from our greatest delight but tucked directly inside it—and that gift, once found, comes with a debt to use it. This learning brought Helena - and the woods - to life. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor the trees are listening—truly listening. A plant feels a voice as a fine trembling in its leaves, and answers: at Helena's first notes the tight pores of the winter buds ease open to drink the light, roots stir and pull deeper, and the whole grove tilts, by degrees, toward her song. And it is her song they answer to—for Helena, her lineage, and these woods grew up together, kin across a hundred springs, and the forest knows her voice as its own. A stranger might sing here just as sweetly and the trees would not stir; the song has to belong to the wood before the wood will open to the song. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHelena now sings proudly in her family's ancient office: to wake the quiescent woods.
